There are thousands of years of history to discover in the Bow Valley. Get started on your journey with a leisurely walk through the Juniper’s interpretive exhibits.
Indoors: Interpretive Corridor
Take a walk through time at the Juniper! Starting from the first floor lobby, you’ll find artefacts that tell the story of this special place, from the formation of the Rocky Mountains to roaming buffalo herds.
As you head towards the Juniper Bistro entrance, stop and check out the photos of the dining room from the original 1950’s Timberline Inn. We’ve updated the décor a little since then, but you can still spot some original features in the Bistro. Don’t miss the copy of an old-school menu; mock turtle soup anybody?
Outdoors: Woodland Discovery Trail
Step into the forest for a short walk through the trees and learn more about the flora and fauna that surround us. You’ll pass the area where Indigenous Elders sometimes gather to hold traditional ceremonies.
The trail sits next to the Mt. Norquay wildlife corridor, part of a connected network of protected wilderness areas stretching from Yellowstone National Park to the Yukon Territory. Large animals use these corridors to move around safely, including bears and wolves. Since wildlife is all around us, make sure to take bear spray with you whenever you’re exploring, especially in the summer season; ask the Front Desk to borrow one and for more safety tips!
The entrance to the Discovery Trail is on the far side of the parking lot, near the pathway to the Woodland Cabins.
